Kristen Henshaw, LPC, NCC, EMDRIA-Certified in EMDR
I take a gentle and respectful approach to working with clients who have experienced extensive trauma in their lives, I have always been fascinated by people and their stories! My own experiences with trauma and recovery, and living life as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), motivated me to learn as much as I could about how to help others to break free from past traumas in order to live as fully, fearlessly, and contentedly as possible. I believe that everyone has strength and perseverance within themselves, especially when they've lived through painful childhoods, events, or circumstances. The resilience of the human spirit continues to awe and inspire me. You can reclaim your identity, and learn to appreciate your own strengths, unique gifts, and talents, as well.
Many people share similar experiences, but no one person perceives a shared experience in the exact same way as another. Therefore, my own past helps me to relate to you, your experiences, and your struggles - but it certainly doesn't mean that I assume to know everything about you. I do not doubt your experiences, perceptions, or your pain. I believe you! You are the expert on your own life! I simply act as a catalyst for changes that you want to make happen in your life. I know it's hard to trust after trauma. I know there is pain - and a desire to connect, but intense fear in doing so. I am passionate about healing, growth, and acceptance - and strive to create a comforting, safe, nurturing, and empowering space in which you can freely explore and express your authentic self. From there, and at your pace, we will work collaboratively to untangle and unbind you from your past, so that you can move toward true freedom to live your life on your terms.
